A long walk in the Hochschwarzwald - zero out of four countries visible - some cowbells - the long bench - another wrong turn - rescued by Christof - walking au naturel - and a looooong cable car ride. But do you get the reference?
Shrines, a play on a swing, Bronze Age burial mounds and that was all before lunch. Final walk through the stone gate down to our final destination (esp. if you catch the bus). Possible Gollum sighting.
A ride on the school bus, more juniper berries, 4 climbs and descents and the best panorama of the walk so far. Ending in Kipfenberg right on the northern frontier of the Roman empire.
A late start, 12 apostles followed by a walk up to and through the Maxberg stone factory. Beautiful Mörnsheim, another thunderstorm before the girls got lost on the mountain. Raspberries, an archaeopteryx discovery, my "Ronnie Corbett"moment and Maddy makes friends with Rudi.
My visit to the Germanisches National Museum: a meeting with Charlemagne, Judith appears holding the head of Holofernes, a Rembrandt self-portrait discovered only 19 years ago and lots more. Some pretty cool dolls houses too.
Very warm welcome: fruit and bottled water waiting for me in my very large room and I was soon enjoying a beer and discussing the merits of various players in the Dortmund team with Rolf.
