Nürnberg

Long train trip from Dortmund to Nürnberg.  Arrived mid afternoon and spent a little time walking around the old city.  Last time I was here was in 1996 and it feels pretty much the same. Had a light lunch of curried potato soup, bread and coffee at a little vegeterian eatery called Mondo.

At 6.30 pm I caught the S-Bahn to the Frankenstadion to catch the match between FC Nürnberg and FC St Pauli.  Nürnberg looked to be the more skilful team but as the match progressed St Pauli's incredible work rate became decisive and they cut through for 2 second half goals.  Again my overall impression of this league is that it really lacks players who can make decisive passes, or quick football decisions to open up the opposition defence.  Final score 0-2.

Most impressive were the away fans.  They never stopped singing during the entire 90 minutes and like their team easily outlasted the home supporters.
