Salzkotten

I spent an hour in Salzkotten which is the train stop near Thüle. The town get its name from its original industry in extracting salt from the nearby salt marshes. It is very close (12 km) to the university city of Paderborn.

During my walk around I came across a boules court near the old Oil Mill. Called Place de l'Amitie it is there to acknowledge the sister city relationship with Belleville in France. 

I repaired to Cafe Hölter which is located in a 17th century farmhouse, but now in the centre of the town.  Here I enjoyed an afternoon tea of coffee with Linzerkirschkuchen:  a cherry cake. Very filling.
